Director Principal Gifts – Nuvance Health/Vassar Brothers Medical Center – Poughkeepsie, NY

Nuvance Health is seeking an experienced full-time Director Principal Gifts in Poughkeepsie, New York, located 75 minutes north of New York City in the Hudson Valley. This role provides Foundation leadership at Nuvance Health/Vassar Brothers Medical Center, a flagship tertiary academic hospital within Nuvance Health, a seven hospital system in Connecticut and New York. The Director will work directly with the Hospital president, as well as clinical, administrative and volunteer leaders to help set funding priorities and build philanthropic capacity for both the Hospital and system.

Located on the banks of the scenic Hudson River, Vassar Brothers Medical Center has a brand new 696,000-square-foot, eight-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms. Vassar has established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and womens’ health services. Vassar is consistently ranked as one of the strongest cardiac programs in the United States and one of the “Top 100 Heart Hospitals” by Modern HealthCare Magazine.

Summary:
The Director will be able to identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals and organizations capable of making principal gifts ($1M or more) in support of Nuvance Health. He/she will maintain a portfolio of approximately 25-40 current and prospective principal donors with a primary focus on $1M or above as well as maintain effective relations with donors, prospects, board members, and volunteers. The Director will serve as a key member of the fundraising team by participating in developing strategies to achieve department-wide goals. He/she will act as development office liaison to one or more assigned clinical service departments, furthering effective communication with physicians and other staff to identify, cultivate, and close gifts from grateful patients.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree with a minimum of 10 years of development experience. Fundraising experience must include a track record of securing principal and major gifts ($100,000 and above).
  • Must demonstrate outstanding performance in positively representing the institution to key members of the community.
  • Previous experience in healthcare philanthropy preferred.
