About Cornerstone

Cornerstone Health Services, Inc. is a large, nonprofit healthcare provider offering the highest quality end-of-life services to patients and their families in Central Florida and Georgia.  The services provided by Cornerstone are quite extensive.  In addition to traditional hospice and palliative care, we provide personal and emotional services to help the seriously ill and their families. 

The Cornerstone Hospice Foundation is the a 501-c-3, charitable arm of Cornerstone Health Services, Inc. The work of the Foundation helps to ensure that no patient is turned away because of an inability to pay. The changing environment in healthcare is driven by rapidly rising costs along and reduced Medicare payments which has created the need for more focused philanthropic endeavors to safeguard that programs and quality initiatives not covered by reimbursements are able to grow and thrive.  


About the Position

We are in search of full-time Foundation Executive Director, located in Central Florida, to further the mission and goals of Cornerstone Health Services, Inc. through a comprehensive fundraising program that will grow and expand upon the initiatives currently in place. The candidate should be self-motivated, have a minimum of 5 years of development leadership, capital campaigns, grant-writing, and superior written and oral communication skills.


Job Description

Reporting to the CEO, the Foundation Executive Director manages a comprehensive fund-raising program for Cornerstone Health Services, Inc., including the Annual Giving Fund, major and planned gifts, foundation grants, and targeted fund raising.

  • Increase and sustain base of annual donors
  • Execute special events to raise awareness and generate revenue
  • Identify potential grant sources and supervise the execution of grant proposals
  • Maintains contacts with all sources of current and prospective contributions with Cornerstone objectives for financial support
  • Ensures the administrative functions of the Foundation are carried out.
  • Responsible for the selection, employment, evaluation, and discharge of Foundation Staff. Currently supervises a staff of seven employees.
  • Recruits volunteer leadership to assist in the major gifts program and with special events planning
  • Supervises production of all printed materials and publications for the foundation
  • Interacts with community professionals on wills, charitable trusts, and other planned instruments
  • Formulates and recommends fund raising policies or policy changes for future organizational growth
  • Prepares and presents periodic reports providing updated financial information and progress on fund raising events and other related activities
  • Works with Board of Directors and Nomination Committee in recruiting new board members. Responsible for orientation, retreat planning and all committees in an effort to promote engagement of members

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Has a four-year degree or has equivalent experience
  • Successful track record of maintaining relationships with donors and effective strategies for major gift solicitation
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum of 5+ years in development leadership
  • Direct supervisory experience with staff and volunteers
  • Experience with database and prospect management tools
  • Exhibits positive energy, creativity, and an ability to ”close the deal”
  • Must hold/obtain valid Florida driver’s license
