Specialist, Major Gifts
Description
Responsibilities
- Secure, sustain and grow (unrestricted) funds for the organization by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors (caseload).
- Ensure that donors are retained and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.
- Work closely with the CEO, Chief/VP DMC and Director of Development in the management of the unrestricted pipeline/donor ladder and cultivation system. Travel will be required.
Contributions
- Qualify a group of caseload donors
- Create individual goals for each person on their caseload based on the donor's history of giving and the organization's knowledge of that donor's potential.
- Create a plan for each donor that will serve as a foundational communication and marketing plan for each person on the caseload. Will faithfully and on a timely basis execute that plan so individuals on the caseload are retained and upgraded.
- Personally conduct 120-150 regional or national visits each year with major gift prospects, bringing Search staff/key stakeholders, as appropriate, for the purposes of prospect identification, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation.
- Effectively manage assigned prospects through personal visits, correspondence, electronic and telephonic communication.
- Work with programs, business development, marketing and the communications department to secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and create offers, proposals and asks that will be used with persons on the caseload to secure gifts.
- Create monthly reports as required by management that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance.
- Utilize the prospect management system (Foundation Search, Wealth Engine) to ensure the effective and productive management and reporting.
- Complete all standard, travel, or contact related reports in a timely and efficient manner
- Will perform other major donor activities as may be required.

- Routinely coordinates with colleagues and consultants on-site and in the field and resolves problem situations with tact.
- Represents, as assigned, selected programs or projects and other organizations, including donors, vendors, and international and local partners.
- Interacts with country office and regional staff.
